La Mirada production facility : Capitol Food Company boasts three dry production lines at this facility with annual capacity in excess of 125 million pounds. The capabilities of dry mixing/blending surpasses many of our competitors. Our bulk handling capabilities for commodity flour and sweeteners allows us to receive incoming raw materials via rail. From double helix speed control ribbon blenders to Kason vibrating dump stations, we have the ability to pack finished products in bulk 2,000 pound totes to 50 – 20 pound bags. In short, we can handle all projects our customers entrust us with.
Bemis Bag packaging system : Our customers have come to rely on Capitol Food Company supplying high quality flour from all manner of origins. To handle in excess of 155,000 pounds of packed flour bags per day, automation is required. Two operators, one for packing and one for palletization can operate the Bemis bag packing system with its automated bag sealer, lot code printer and metal detection. This custom-built robotic system has inline sifting for both bulk and micro ingredients ensuring a homogenous mix of dry powder, with guaranteed viscosity control for your end products. Quality is assured with inline metal detection and state-of-the-art lot code application and record keeping.
Dry Production Line #1
- We have a double helix speed-controlled ribbon blending closed system. Our gravity fed vertical system has a top mixer with a 4,000 pound capacity fed by three 170,000 pound flour silos. The flour passes through a Great Western sifter. The system is also serviced by one 170,000 pound sugar silo and an edible oil tank.
- All other ingredients are presented through a stainless steel hand dump station. Once blended, the product passes through two Prater Mills which then drop into an 8,000 pound speed controlled double helix ribbon blender. As soon as the transfer is complete the top mixer allows the process to begin again. To manage accurate formulations, quality control/quality assurance, we have an automated programmable logic controller controlled bagging system with 25 pound (25 kilograms) open mouth, pinch bottom, heat sealed bags which then pass through a ‘bag flattener’ and metal detection.
Dry Production Line #2
- Double helix speed controlled 3,800 pound capacity blending system. The line has winch ability to elevate and load super sacks into the mixing process. The packaging capability on Line #2 is the same as Line #1.
Dry Production Line #3
- Line #3 is serviced by a single blade ribbon blender which is ideal for smaller batch production. It has a 2,000 pound capacity and can be packed on the same line as line #1.
